How to protect your eyes?

Eye sight likely is the most important part of our body we don’t want to lose. How can we keep our eyes healthy?

A healthy diet with greens, fruits, nuts, and fish are good for our eyes.

Minimize starchy foods and sugar.

Wearing sunglasses to protect eyes from UV damage is also important.

Regular eye checkup is also essential in keeping our eyes healthy.

Supplementation for eyes is also necessary. Why?

Study has shown that the nutritional status of our population is not sufficient to support our eyes. Many nutrients have been shown to improve and reduce the risk of macular degeneration but not included in our everyday diet in optimal level.

Vitamin C, E, B(B6, B12, folic acid, B2, b12), beta carotene, resveratrol, zinc, copper, selenium - all these have been shown to improve eye health in respect to prevent and reduce the risk of developing macular degeneration.

High levels of antioxidants also help to reduce the risk of developing glaucoma.

Lutein and zeaxanthin help to protect eyes from oxidation and light damage; they help to reduce incidence of cataracts and macular degeneration.

Grape seed extract protects the cells of the eyes and helps to strengthen the capillaries (very tiny blood vessels) of our eyes.

Essential fatty acids help to reduce inflammation related to dryness and protect eyes from oxidative stress.

Also, don’t forget to exercise your eyes. Don’t stare at the computer and electronic devices for too long. Let your eyes take a break and stretch the eye muscle by looking out farther distance. Don’t overwork them!
